Best of 2011

2011 was a great year for entertainment. The Star Wars series finally arrived on Blu-ray, my (and a lot of other people's) interest in comic books was reinvigorated by the DC Comics New 52, and this Fall saw one of the best seasons in gaming history. Usually I have a series of posts about my favorite media in 2011, but this year I'll keep it short.

Best Video Game

In a year full of stellar releases, Uncharted 3 was the best of the bunch. Uncharted has quickly become one of my favorite franchises of all time, mixing great gameplay with stories that you actually care about. Each installment has improved on its predecessor, and the third entry was no exception. I also really liked Portal 2, Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Killzone 3. Some day I'll actually beat them. Oh, and I bought Rayman: Origins on Black Friday, but haven't played it yet...

Best Movie

This was a tough one. I "liked" a lot of films this year, but didn't really "love" any of them. I'll go with Paranormal Activity 3, as it's a series I've enjoyed for quite a long time. I remember thinking that they pulled a "Metal Gear Solid 2" on us, as in, most of the footage they released prior to the film coming out never made it into the final cut (probably on purpose). Also liked Captain America and Hugo in 2011.
